Who is Linked IPAs?
We have been managing IPA contracts with HMOs since 1995. Our managed IPAs have been: SEMNet (1995), UHPNet (2006), HMINet (2006), and U4IPA. We call this network, Linked IPAs. Each IPA, under the agreements we made with the HMOs, has been able to pay substantial bonuses to both primary care physicians and to specialists who participated in the budget and quality assurance programs. We have also developed a new Co-op clinic network (Patient/Physician Cooperatives) in the Greater Houston Area and additional surrounding areas.
What insurance carriers do you contract with?
We are extremely pleased to inform you that we partner with Bravo! Health, Universal Health Care, and WellCare. We contract with New Era Life Insurance commercial insurance and the Co-op clinic network Patient/Physician Cooperatives.
What is required to join Linked IPAs?
We are always excited to hear from new providers that are willing to join our organization and become members. There are no fees or charges applied for providers who wish to join. Linked IPAs requires that all providers submit the Texas Standardized Application or a CAQH number to start the credentialing process. What services are covered in the primary physicians office with a membership in Patient/Physician Cooperatives (PPC)?
The plan covers basic family practice services that may include: diagnosis and treatment of common infections such as colds, flu, strep throat, pneumonia or urinary tract infections; working with patients to manage chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, thyroid disease and asthma; performing minor surgical procedures such as the removal of foreign bodies, incision and drainage of abscesses, suturing, and care of ingrown nails; on-site pregnancy testing, diabetes testing, and STD testing; or yearly medical exams like well woman exams.
What if the PPC patient happens to need a specialist?
If the primary care physician determines that the patient needs a specialty care, he or she will refer him to a specialist within the PPC contracted provider network. The specialist will see the patient under the rates published in the PPC Fee Schedule. The member pays their fees at the time of service and is the same rate that the physician would get from Medicare patients. If the PPC member has the health insurance issued to PPC by New Era Life, the charges for specialist will be covered at 100% of PPC published rates, less a $25 co-payment, up to $25,000 per year, per member.
